Gynos enjoys Ojai Film Festival
Gynos might not have won any awards in Ojai, but that didn’t stop us from playing to two amazing crowds on back to back days. On the Saturday screening, Creed and Tripper participated in a Q&A following the screening. Gynos was paired up with a very serious documentary about the consequences of mountain top removal coal mining in West Virginia, so surely the crowd appreciated the levity and comedy that only Gynos can provide!

Gynos has Bittersweet Hollywood Film Festival Experience
While the festival itself was nothing to shake a stick at, the Hollywood Film Festival put all of their resources and manpower into their end of festival awards ceremony. Oddly enough, the “Hollywood Film Festival Awards” handed out exactly ZERO awards to films that were actually in the festival. Instead, the Awards dinner/ceremony consisted of inviting as many A-list celebs who would show up to hand out seemingly meaningless awards. On one hand, it was annoying to get snubbed in the festival experience. But on the other hand — was it cool to be invited to an event along with Angelina Jolie, Clint Eastwood, Dustin Hoffman, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Ron Howard, Ben Stiller, Oliver Stone, Paul Haggis, Ryan Gosling and a few others? Yes, of course. But it’s too bad the actual festival itself was just an excuse to throw the A-list party. Oh well, can’t win ‘em all.

Louisiana Loves it some Gynos!
Gynos star Brandon Olive participated in a “tour de force” journey across Louisiana this past week to support Gynos at its various events. Over the course of the week, Gynos played several public and private screenings (including the New Orleans Film Festival where objective sources say it “kicked serious ass” as well as playing in Brandon’s hometown of Shreveport). A great little piece on gynos and Brandon worth checking out on the Louisiana Movie Blog by Alexandyr Kent. Thanks for the Gynos love! Keep it comin’!

Gynos Plays to Packed House in SD (Twice!)
Unfortunately, this past weekend we were ONLY able to make it to the San Diego Film Festival to support Gynos (but a huge thanks to those who supported the film at Coney Island and Sidewalk!). However, both of our screenings played to completely packed crowds (people had to sit in the aisles) and the crowd absolutely loved the film. No award for us, but had there been an audience choice award for short films, we would’ve had a great chance. Thanks to all the Gynos fans who made it out.

Gynos continues its deep south run!
What a week for Gynos! We just received word that Gynos is an official selection of the Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival in Birmingham, Alabama! This is one of the hottest, up-and-coming festivals in the country, and definitely one of the biggest in the south. This festival runs September 26-28 — we’ll post our screening time as soon as we have it.

Gynos strikes again — San Diego Film Festival!
It’s been quite a week for Gynos. A few days ago we found out we’re playing the New Orleans Film Festival in October, and today, just an hour after screening at the LA Shorts Fest, we received the call notifying us that Gynos is an official selection of the San Diego Film Festival! This is a great festival (and apparently an amazing party to boot), so I’m sure a few of us from Team Gynos will find a way to make it down from LA for the festival at the end of September. No word on screening specifics yet, but the festival runs from September 25th to 28th. Thanks to everyone for all of your continued support!

Gynos plays to a happy crowd at LA Shorts Fest!
We had our screening today on the final day of the Los Angeles Short Film Festival. The caliber of films at this festival was extremely high — ranging from short films to music videos to commercials, the overall production value was top-notch. That being said, from the few films we had the opportunity to see, Gynos received the most laughs and applause from the crowd. As for the awards, Gynos will be competing against short films starring such actors as Rainn Wilson, Winona Ryder, Sam Rockwell, Tony Shalhoub and Adrian Grenier, just to name a few, so it’s anyone’s game. But just to be so well received at such a renowned festival was a great feeling for all of us!

Gynos accepted to the New Orleans Film Festival!
Great news! Gynos has just been named an official selection of the NEW ORLEANS FILM FESTIVAL! This festival is huge (and rumored to be an amazing party as well), so we’re really pumped! The festival runs from October 10-16. No screening times announced just yet, so please check back and we’ll update the site as soon as we find out when we’ll screen. Thanks!

Brandon Interviewed at the Nashville Film Festival!
Gynos played to a sold-out 200+ person theater on back to back days at the Nashville Film Festival! While the other comedies in Gynos’ short film program featured great actors such as Cheryl Hines, Anthony Anderson, Steven Root, Jane Lynch and Gary Cole, we’re proud to report Gynos played last in the program and received the biggest laughs and applause of the bunch. Check out Brandon’s interview with the Nashville Film Festival Press!
And here are some pics from the festival with Brandon and his brother/script supervisor, Blake Olive.

BIG WINNERS - MALIBU!
The Malibu Int’l Film Festival kicked off what should be a long and beautiful festival tour for Gynos. And it couldn’t have gone any better. Gynos took down TWO of the biggest awards there:
– BEST SHORT FILM
and…
– BEST ACTOR
Huge “props,” as they say, to our entire cast, crew and supporters for believing in this quirky comedy about gynecology. And a huge congrats goes to Brandon Olive for taking home the Best Actor hardware!
The whole weekend was pretty amazing. We saw some brilliant films, we attended some “brilliant” parties. This being our first festival, we had no clue if we’d even be nominated, especially when we’re competing against some gritty, dramatic think-pieces. I guess Gynos is a think-piece as well, just from the opposite end of the spectrum. When they announced Gynos as the winner, we all jumped out of our chairs and ran on stage. Truly an amazing feeling. You can see an interview posted here on our blog from the festival’s kick-off party. And we’ll have pics from the festival posted shortly. Thanks!

Opening Screening a Success!
So, we had our opening screening for cast, crew, friends, family and industry folk, and the film was really well received. Creed Bratton and Carol Potter were just some of our great actors in attendance, and we even had an Oscar-winning producer in the crowd, if you can imagine. It was a little strange for us, finally getting to hear a theater full of laughter and applause, but it’s definitely a feeling we can (hopefully) get used to throughout the festival circuit over the next year. We had a still photographer on the scene, so we’ll throw some pictures up here shortly! Thanks to everyone who made it to the big event — we really appreciate your support.
